About Rashad Ali Muhammad

Rashad Ali Muhammad is a multifaceted visual artist of the African Diaspora. He resides and works just outside of Washington, DC. The surreal approach in Rashad’s work combines diverse materials and techniques to offer a glimpse into his perpetual quest to connect to his ancestry, community, and nature. His work is an amalgamation of painting, graphic design, collaging, photography, along with his signature gilding to incite reverence to his heritage via symbols and elaborate patterns. As a member of the African diaspora, his work reflects deep-rooted blood memories connected to his lineage. After traveling to Africa, he recognized he innately drew upon his heritage’s use of color and patterns, vibrant spirit for life, and connections to nature. He continually aims to give reverence to his ancestors through his art.
