Looking Glass

Querida Corazón,

Thank you.

I never knew you could carry so much.

I used to say I was heartless

but now I know that wasn’t true.

I felt the beauty of you but couldn’t see

so I locked you behind the glass

In case of an emergency

There were times you skipped a beat

Or beat so loud I couldn’t speak

Then there was silence

Barely felt a pulse

Thought it was the end.

That mi corazón was when you allowed my love to glow within

I always had a plan for you, a place for you, a time with you

But the truth is…

I was neglecting you, I had rejected you.

Querida Corazón, lo siento.

I never knew how much I needed you, wanted you, most of all love you.

I wanted to see the butterflies that fluttered in my stomach…

Fear had stopped us from opening that door

Corazón, you never led me wrong

Somehow I still need you to be sure.

Didn’t have the words but I’ve always hummed your song

Now that I’ve found my groove

to the rhythm of your cautionary tune

Feel like I’m dancing in the craters on the moon

Open to receive the wisdom that ebbs + flows

Open to hear the drum that soulfully lulls

Open to strum the strings that love weaves

Open to be the note that cracks a ribs + strikes the core

Querida Corazón

Finding peace in you is love’s ultimate goal

So I vow to always stay true to you and to nurture you

To give you grace while respecting the boundaries life has risen

Healing with intention is just a part of your mission

Statements that I declare with authority
