Intimate Connection

Artist Statement

My life experiences have led me to notice a lack of emotional connection in society. Our day to day lives are not conducive to strengthening this and facilitate a pattern of shame, disconnect and inauthentic attachment. Through depicting experiences and relatable moments from participating in the human experience and enhancing the emotional response through color choice, my work creates an opportunity to notice these situations more mindfully and provoke different avenues of perspective.

The goal of my work is to begin bridging the gap between the subjective and collective experience, in order to create space for individuals to observe, connect with and discuss the most vulnerable moments of our lives, even if it is uncomfortable, in order engage with and challenge societal norms that encourage us not to speak about the things that allow us to connect, intimately with one another and participate in consciences relationships.
